Hello parents, and caregivers,
This week we began a new math unit, studying numbers to 1,000. The students are learning about adding higher numbers, through whole group instruction, and workplace games. This week’s phonics focus is words with ‘ee’ and ‘ea’. We are also reviewing homophones and adding a suffix to a verb. The students are continuing to learn about African Americans that helped to shape our country. Some people we are learning about this week are, Muhammad Ali, and Wallace Amos. The students have created their Project Lead the Way popsicle coolers, and will be testing them, and revising their inventions on Friday. The final popsicle challenge will take place on Monday! The coolers will be on display at our school wide open house on Thursday, March 9th. We were also able to take advantage of this beautiful weather this week and are taking a walking field trip to the Myriad Gardens to practice our measurement skills using a ruler. Tuesday we will have our field trip to the Sam Noble Museum in Norman. The students will be traveling by bus, and must have a permission slip signed and returned by Monday, February 27th to attend! -Mrs. Melman
